Last step for trap out. Need to get the honey out pronto, it is getting chilly, owner is getting impatient. I'm bringing some nucs over to aid the robbing.
Will smearing honey on the nest entrance help them get the idea? I also have lemongrass and geraniol. Time is short thanks.
A boardman feeder with a pint of sugar water near the entrance should do the job.
Once they figure out honey is in there, it should not take very long for them to clean it out this time of the year. I think honey around the hole would light them up.

Last year when had the same issue, I smeared honey around a trap out entrance they found it before I even finished putting it there. I watched it for about 10 minutes. They cleaned up the honey quickly and the workers started returning looking for more honey. Not finding it the started searching. The search activity volume was progressively getting higher as more recruited workers joined the fray. They were pouring out like they had been disturbed. By the time I left (lunch hour, had to go back to work) they were pouring into the hole. They were not yet returning to their hive though . I can only imagine what that place looked like after that volume of workers started returning with honey and inturn recruited even more to join the scrum. By the time I returned 2 days later they completely ignored the hole and I hauled them off.

They found it within a minute, but I couldn't stick around too long. They also liked my pants where I wiped my hand. :lol:
You wiped your hands on your pants? That is like blasphemy. You are suppose to lick those fingers.
Too true Allen. I wouldn't do that with my own (or any other local honey). This was not top-shelf mind you, just some grocery store stuff. Also I was hanging from a branch in the tree, and I needed that hand!
