Title: can their personalities be that different?
Post by: JP on June 01, 2005, 10:22:17 AM
Happy June 1 everyone!

Hive #1 is slow to rise, & just not nearly as active as Hive#2. Both are consuming sugar water, Hive#2 a little more so. Queens have definitely been released on both hives, & both hives were set up this past Friday. It just seems like a night & day difference between the two hives. Is it normal to have this much variation between two hives ?
JP.

thnx for the response Michael, I checked on them a minute ago & both hives are very active, it just seems that hive #1 are late risers, I guess they must stay up later than the other hive, perhaps watching Bee rated movies, ha ha!

JP -  Everyhive will be different with it's own personality.  The queen is different.  the maturinty of the brood is differnet,  there are even diffent environment factors.  One may get a few more minutes of direct sunlight in the morning and this will have an effect.

Sad to say,  I even have a favorite hive to work with.   Last year it was #1 and now it started out  early this year being #5,  but lately it's #4  It built up faster than some of the other packages.
