I removed a swarm from this work yard in early spring but wasn't videoing yet. That was a good size swarm, here is a small one.
We all had fun with these.

Small Honey Bee Swarm In Belle Chasse, Louisiana (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNKWdEzAR7Q#ws)
Small swarm. How long did it take for them to build up?
I have to be honest JP, I love all of your videos, but some of them warm my heart more than others. This video is one of those videos that warmed by heart. Why? Because it was a peaceful removal, both for the bees and for you. I also just love it when you pour that honey onto the frames. Like Daddy JP taking care of his children. I know you are doing the very best for the bees when you do that.
This video made me happy.
Thanks
Annette

Allen, I'm not sure if I understand your question my friend.
This was a swarm, no comb at all.
They had just flown in the day before.
Hope that helps.
Annette, swarms are just so much fun, just you and the bees, getting them into a new home.
Tommy, swarms down here, so far, are very accepting.
Once in a blue moon I might run across a swarm whereby I get a few stings but thus far this is not the norm.
Most of the swarms I deal with are more than happy to accept my efforts and new home I provide them.
When I go to Bud's I usually get laughed at because I usually have to put my veil on. :-D
Different bees down there.

Thanks JP
So if I come accross a swarm this spring
I know I'll wear a veil but if they are small
like this one I could just hand pick as long as I'm gentle ?

If I had come accross what was in this clip
I would have taken a plastic Milk jug and tried to Push
them into it or the box ??

OK Oct 22, your sister's b-day. I missed that one. I thought you collected them in the spring, but that was another swarm. I am a little dense. Been hit in the head way too many times. I can not believe that they are swarming that late in the season. Is that the norm down there?

Tom, generally speaking a small swarm should be less defensive than a very large one and as a rule swarms in general are usually docile.
As long as they have proper ventilation you can put them temporarily in just about anything.
