Crazy with rage that is. Although many are up on this subject the latest "catch the Buzz" from Kim Flotum will make your blood boil. I'm writing my Congressman and Senators now. If you don't already subscribe to "catch the buzz" go to BEE CULTURE and do so.
thomas
i quit reading Flotum a long time ago because he makes my head explode. can you give us the short version so that i know if it's worth my elevating my BP?
Afraid I couldn't do w/ out "Catch the Buzz" weekly updates on the biz of bees. You want the short version heh? OK then; its just more proof of blatant corpuption (hidden memos) exposing Bayer and EPA for having prior knowldge that their product (Clothianidin) was/is in fact harmful to honeybees. This stuff has been used across the US for the last eight years and stays in the ground releasing its poison for up to 20 years. They knew it and put it on the market anyway in 2003. Hoo-ray for the capitalists. Greed wins again. Hope this brightens everyones day.

Pesticide Fact Sheet
Name of Chemical: Clothianidin
Reason for Issuance: Conditional Registration
Date Issued: May 30, 2003
...
Quote
Trade Name: Poncho 600
Application Sites: Clothianidin is registered for seed treatment use on corn and canola.

....
Clothianidin is highly toxic to honey bees on an acute contact basis (LD50 > 0.0439 µg/bee). It has
the potential for toxic chronic exposure to honey bees, as well as other nontarget pollinators, through
the translocation of clothianidin residues in nectar and pollen. In honey bees, the effects of this toxic
chronic exposure may include lethal and/or sub-lethal effects in the larvae and reproductive effects
in the queen.
Clothianidin is also an ingredient in other brands, also primarily as a seed treatment as listed below...
Corn (pop) (seed treatment) , Corn (sweet) (seed treatment) , Canola (seed treatment) , Corn (seed treatment) , Corn (field) (seed treatment) , Sorghum (seed treatment) , Sugar beets (seed treatment) , Soybeans (seed treatment) , Rapeseed (seed treatment)
I dont know who caused, or how - corruption, lack of integrity, and a catastrophic loss of honesty became synonymous with "capitalism" but it hurts my feeling (singular) to see the english language so abused.
T Beek; I'll gladly spring for an airline ticket to the socialist country of your choice if you'll sign an agreement to stay there and never return to this capitalist, greedy nation.
See; Peoples History of the United States by Howard Zinn. What's opinion (or capitalism) got to do with the english language? And how is capitalism not responsible for the release of many things known to be harmful to life, and what's so good about that? Jeez, don't get me started, it'll turn into another kind of forum.

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/synonym (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/synonym) - english language.
Chernobyl was built, managed, and operated by an entirely communist form of not capitalism. if it wasn't so huge, I'm sure we would have never heard a word of it.
I can see this can easily degenerate into a pointless discussion of core beliefs, of which mine don't include assigning all reckless human behavior to capitalism. It lends itself to "movements" in which herds of honest people are demonized because they want to produce a surplus income to save for an eventual retirement.
i let my subscription go, so i guess i can't read the article. now i remember why i let it go. Kim is one of those leftover 60's types that is always looking for a cause. sometimes the info is good, but the editorial make me grind my teeth. i think his anit-war diatribe was the last subscription for me.
capitalism is a good thing. profit is a good thing. to the extent that we'd all like to make more of the second, greed is a good thing. it's been redefined by the wacky left as some sort of sin.
at any rate, it's good to have info on products. we should all be aware of what is out there and how to use, or not use, products.
BTW, did you bother to do backgrounds on the people on the page you rec'ed?
BTW....you realize that Zinn is a communist?
I know several people that have been to the People's Republic of China, and the pollution is staggering compared to what we have here. And they are really loosey goosey with their chemicals. Stupid socialists.
There are no authority driven systems deserving of the peoples trust, and that includes both capitalism and socialism. Placing labels on people with diferent views is easy, but it shuts down dialoge and is still just a cop out. (the FBI called Zinn many things including a communist However, he was an American patriot).
Arguments in favor of sustaining any Authority driven system simply perpetuates the myths, premises and philosophy of the Authority and justifies our "need" to have said Authority. Baaaa....baaaaa.
It has been said that one out of a hundred human beings are psychopathic. I think there's alot of them on Wall-Street.
Why anyone would trust and/or spread the lies (myths, premises and philosophy) of any Authority driven system without diligent study is beyond me AND this forum.
Although I like "intelligent, informed" debate, I much prefer bee talk.
thomas
its always capitalist that pollute.... Is the day after earth day not the largest day for trash pick up aside from the week after Christmas. Dang capitalist oh wait those are green freaks
Keith
i don't know how you get from Marxist to patriot, or capitalism to "authority driven system", but ok....back to bees.

Hard to have a dialog when you shut it down before it even begins!! :) But it did brighten my day, lol!! ;)
I don't know about all the other stuff that is getting dragged in to this discussion.
it is true that the EPA, much like any bureaucracy, has some people in it that are willing to whistle at the sky while they receive a little "special" something in their hand as the "un-noticed" goes by seemingly unseen.
It's been found before by courts that the EPA has let things that it probably shouldn't have, through. Much to the benefit of some company.
Any human being, regardless of government system they live in can be greedy and/or corrupt. it's up to all of us to keep the rest of us honest. Call em out when they need to be called out.
heck, even I, who lives where the best shakes in the known universe are, have to be called out once in awhile when I get a little too determined to get my way.
me thinks its time to change the channel.

Just a quick warning, keep the language clean and resist the temptation to start name calling. It seems to be turning real quick. It will not travel far down that road.
If you want to use language you wouldn't talk to grandma or your kid with, you'll have to take it somewhere else.
ahhh the thoughts of youth, it gets cold up there sombody should wear a hat

Sure can't argue with that.

I haven't read the article in question so I'll have to take y'alls word for it.
My only thinking on that type of mindset is that I am glad that there are folks who have the time and wherewithal to sit and ponder these complex issues of nature. It tells me that the rest of us hard working americans have created a standard of living in this country where some get to sit and ponder without being bothered with actual work. Now if we can just get them them to shut the hades up and quit trying to tell the rest of us their "enlightened" opinions as fact. A simple thank you would suffice.
