first year bee keeper have ten hives all with deep bottom brood box 5 that are just single box , 2 are story and 1/2 1 double deep , 3 with 2 mediums on top i am planning on starting patties this week first flowers in this local about mid feb i was wandering aprox how much dry mega bee i will need to keep patties on them until pollen starts
Thanks Dave
well if you buy 40lb sack you will have plenty-also if you buy 40lbbox pre made patties that will
be just a enough -and you wont have to buy syrup to make the patties with-for ten hives i would buy the patties
unless you have a special recipe for your own protein patty-so one 40lb box of patties will be easier on the wallet-
also-your bees will eat the megabee patty in there own time usually 7-10 days so give them a patty every two weeks and you will be up and running for the mid feb bloom-RDY-B
SHB love that stuff also. Keep an eye on them in the hive or you will be breeding beetles like crazy.
:) Thanks for the reply i guess i will be getting 40 lb's of patties on the way and maybe a 5 lb bag of dry as a hedge
any thought on patties with honey b healthy on not i will keep eye out for shb :-P
Thanks again Dave
yes the HBH is a big plus-it comes with brood builder paties-not megabee-but comes from dadant also
the patties can be purchased with noseviet added as well which is a natural protection from nosema and
other intestinal pathogens-RDY-B
brood builder as good as mega-bee ? I do like dadant when i order on phone from local paris texas branch
Thanks again
Dave
