Title: apis espion?
Post by: Bee Happy on January 19, 2011, 02:09:45 PM
I may have read and forgotten somewhere, I've seen the videos and other run-downs on how sophisticated bee communication is. And that bees will rob.
Has anyone seen research evidence that a bee will spy on another hive to suss out a source?
The reason being that we're having a kinda warm day and the cedars are blooming - I see one hive hauling in mountains of bright yellow pollen; the one next to it -not so much. In another part of the yard I see light activity in one hive and none at its neighbor. (I'm sure since there are several pollinating cedars in the yard they'll all find the pollen eventually; but the spying question popped into my head anyway.)
