Reading the other post about "a way to get your name out to people wanting bees removed "
It drifted for a bit to sprayed and removals so not to derail. I need to know more. What do I need to have from the home owner to Cut into his/her house? The guy who wnat this done is his rental.
I know he sprayed He say a 6 mos, ago
He has tried putting up an add and I'm sure he got many with a price he wouldn't stand for. When I went
down I was told the colony was visible ,but when I got there I saw were they had hung the comb off the under side of the eve and someone had Knocked it down.
The hive is where the roof meets a flat deck I don't know if they are just behind a 8 to 10 inch flashing Dam he has up or gotten into the attic.
He told me last week he would pay 100, I said that I would trap them out for 100
Now he wants them gone but is still holding a tight pocket.
My main concern is how to protect myself if I cut the roof open ,which he said would be fine and he would have it repaired I know I rambled but I need you folks to give me some thought
Thanks
Tom
I think I have a pic on the Flashing dam will post it
Pictures are rough that was a vac I was trying to reach back
I was looking into the sun so when I got home and looked at the two pic's I saw this

have a contract drawn up with all the details and both of you go to a notary and have it signed and sealed
I would never do a cutout for a tenant without getting permission from the home owner in writing.
deknow
The man who wants me to Cut out is the Owner not Tennant
Its in one of his rental homes
I don't put words to type too well
Thanks
Tommyt
i don't do cutouts for twitchy people. i also don't do them for people who cry
i agree with others who have said they would charge more for a hive that had been sprayed. personally, i'd skip it, but i do my cutouts free anyway....
wadehump is right. get it on paper. maybe someone can PM you a sample contract or help you get a simple one put together. it doesn't need to be complicated. it just needs to be clear.
Could not view the pics but here's my view on this one- find another one to cut out.
...JP
Market forces indicate he's not serious about getting them out of the wall. This is going to go bad, I wouldn't walk away, I'd run.
Thanks folks
I'm taking the advice and walking away :'(
would have been my First cut-out
I had visions of Parasols dancing in my head :idunno:
:-D

IF THE HIVE IS SPRAYED SAY GOODBY
BEE HAPPY Jim 134 :)
Let the guy from the turnip truck have that one.
Well I say you got nothing to loose. Just make a written contract that you are not responsible for repairs and have him sign it. A hundred bucks is nothing but if he is the owner of the building and is willing to sign off for any damage incurred in the cut out than go for it. The only snafu you might have is are you legally authorized to do it (local codes)? If not then you are taking a chance no matter what the conditions are.
Being that far south, you will have many more opportunities for cutouts.
Don't tackle one with extra complications for your first one.
I think you are walking into nothing but trouble. If you do it, YOU will probably get a bill with a statement from his attorney. Just my feeling on him. Plus, it looks like a nasty mess. He probably has sprayed them a few times, without success.
You guys are all correct, about the laws and lawyer thoughts
If you look at the picture ,I'll try to explain at he top you can see were comb was once attached
Someone scrapped or Knocked it down
The black tar and shiny metal is a dam that starts on a flat gravel carport roof
Its about 8 to 12 inch's up off the flat roof
The top were the comb was attached is the main roof 3-12 pitch
my only hope and I've not returned to verify,Is this behind that dam there is at least 2.5 to 3 foot of flat deck
with the main roof making this area IMHO a perfect place for the bees
He said 2 years so I think they are in they could be in the attic and in the exterior void
If in the exterior void
I could get them (I think)without cutting anything
I would have to reach in and cut and pull comb but have to do it blindly due to the cramped area
I may go today and take better pictures If I see they are outside I'll just take them
I NEED TO KNOW ONE more THING
Sorry guys I only wrote in caps so you would see this instead of making a new thread
I have gotten another to do today I just would like to hear it again?
All I do is write a simple, I will not be responsible for any of the repair
I also was thinking, I should add that the home owner is given me Permission
to remove the boards, siding or any other materials needed to remove the colony
No structural material will be Jeopardized
You think that is OK ??
Thanks
Tommyt
#1... I have always trusted my instinct on sizing up a person. If I feel the least bit uncomfortable, I walk away.
#2... If you write up any agreement, you are saying you have doubts about whether you should be doing it or not. That is to the other lawyer's advantage. No paper, just trust, you thought all was right. No malice, no bad intention. Your lawyer would have the advantage.
QuoteYou think that is OK ??
First, is it legal for you to do the work? Do you have insurance, and are you bonded? Anybody can sue you for anything. It doesn't just have to be the home owner.
If you are going to take a chance, admit to doing nothing. Just act like a consultant trying to help a guy out with what you know. If he stiff you and doesn't pay that is a minimal risk.
