Title: Wax Moth??
Post by: Keith13 on February 19, 2011, 08:19:34 PM
haven't touched my hives in 14 months had one that was full of mice but more importantly ate up with Wax moths. The cocoons ate into the wood of my hive bodies they also had SHB and my other hives are hot man i wanted to take a flame thrower to them. But the cocoons actually ate into the wood of the hive bodies is that normal or what?

Ya, wax moths will do that.   I have really old frames with holes right though the sides.   They will clean up just fine.    Don't worry about the holes.

Keith, your hives might be hot because they are under constant attack from SHB/mice/. Moths usually move in after the colony has weakened.
