Title: now what?
Post by: newguy on June 10, 2005, 05:21:45 PM
i just checked my hive and found some wierd looking cells down at the bottom of a frame.  they were large, about 1/4 to 3/8 of and inch beyond everything else. there were about 4-8 of them in sort of a cluster. some are capped and some look like they are nearly ready to be capped. they look differant than the nice symetrical domes of a drone cell. they look like what i imagined a queen cell would look like, but i thought queen cells were built vertically, these are horizontal.  also, i didn't notice any new eggs/young larvae. im kinda of worried, what should i do?

i didn't see the queen but i haven't seen her since i got the bees about seven weeks ago. i know she was there because i have seen lots of larvae and i have bees taking first flights today. help

They are just odd drone comb probably built onto the bottom bar which shifted them out by 1/4" or so.
