Title: Hello from Lithonia, Georgia
Post by: showme714 on February 26, 2011, 02:40:14 AM
I would like to say hello to everyone. I am so new to beekeeping that I don't have any bees yet. I won't get them until April. However, I have been preparing by trying to learn all I can from all sources. I came upon this forum while researching top bar hive feeders. This seems like a great place to absorb the experiences of all of you. I have built my top bar hive and am finishing the guides on the bars. I also have yet to weatherproof it. I look forward to being a contributing member of this community

Hello and welcome,
I am just as new as you too.  I have found this site to be a great resource.  And, everyone is willing to help you out.  They have been more than helpful with the questions I've had.
Good luck,
James

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I can hardly wait until I get my bees in April. I was wondering how many posts one has to make before you can add pictures? I built a very simple to make TBH feeder that I wanted to share.

Have you joined Metro Atlanta Beekeepers?  It's a great group and more and more people there are doing top bar hives (I have one)  Keith Delaplane is speaking next week at the meeting at the botanical garden on the 9th.  (Atlanta Botanical Garden) You don't have to be a member to come.

If you do, be sure and introduce yourself to me.

Thanks for the heads up! I am currently not a member of any group yet. I will put the event on my calendar and try to make it.

Question: Are you the Beekeeper Linda that has a blog website about beekeeping?

Just to make sure I understand your instructions...I am to send the links to the pictures to that email address and let it be know I want to post in the Top Bar Hive section. Is this correct?

Yes, I do have a website - Linda's Bees that I've kept for about six years.

Is there anyone near me that I can get some comb from to help prepare my hive for my first package?
