well its here folks swarm season opened today with a call from jp telling me of a a swarm call he got that was closer to me than him.

he was kind enough to call me and i ran out and got em!

They seem to have more gold in them than the ones down my way. Great catch Bailey, glad you could get to 'em.

Am I correct in assuming they have more gold in them or am I seeing things?

Did you see a queen? What did she look like, if so?

I see you have drones in that swarm as well.

Getting pretty jealous here.  Another foot of snow fell yesterday.  Supposed to get up in the 40's by midweek.  May have to take a peek then.

they are more golden than my usual and the drones were golden colored as well.
the queen looked like a small virgin!
she is light as well

What a pretty bunch of bees!  If I had them I would put them in my garden just so I could look at them.

Hard to tell from pic but it looks like the swarm was affixed to a rather main branch.  How did you scoop them off their perch (just curious)?

I am not sure I see the drones that JP sees.  I might see one that is flying in the bottom pic (right upper center), but on casual view with my lousy near vision I can't pick up others.

Still now here too, so it will be a while yet  :'(
