Post by: slacker361 on March 11, 2011, 06:47:25 PM
I am getting two new three pounders on March 28th and the snow isnt gone yet. Now it is still two weeks away but what if there is still snow when it is time to hive them??

In two weeks the snow might be gone but you are not going to have lilacs.  You are forced to feed.

you'll be fine....snow should or will be gone.  if you are installing on foundation feed 1:1.  there is pollen already available we just need the weather to cooperate so the bees can get out.  The bees will start bringing in pollen as soon as they have a place to store it.  If its too cold or wet to fly, they will feed on the syrup.  I'll be helping to install 15 packages on the 29th in Pittsburgh....dont worry too much about it.  A long we arent below freezing!

Snow on the ground means a better chance the bees will stay put in the box and less chance of drifting.
