Title: Releasing the Queen on a rainy day
Post by: montauk170 on March 15, 2011, 03:33:25 AM
Hey bee removal experts,

I have the queen caged for 1.5 days now from my Sunday external colony rescue.
Tomorrow I was planning on opening the hive and releasing the queen but it's forecasted to rain the entire week!!!!
Do you think it's ok for me to go in really fast to release her?

I thought I knew what I was doing until now.  :-D  darn rain!

Have someone assist you holding an umbrella or set up one of those big umbrellas while you go in and do your thing. For a quickie grab the queen, put the cover on then release her on the bottom entrance if you are using bottom entrances, let her walk right in, all is good.

Thanks for heads up Montauk, went to Weather Underground & forecast rains down here till Monday. Just coaxed swarm in at sunset but couldnt find queen & w/ rains coming might have to feed. Hope your royal lass makes a successful hive for you :) .

Had a little break until late afternoon yesterday so I left work early and went home to release the queen.  :-D
