Today I had six swarm calls one was a 911 dispatch call. One came in very late & I will see if they are still there tomorrow. I needed some reenforcement so I called Schawee & Emil but Schawee was busy catching swarms down his way.
One was at a hospital that I sent Emil to but the swarm left right before he got there. Another was in an apartment complex, apparently a huge swarm but all we found were bees that were displaced so I guess the swarm decided to move on.
An interesting thing happened when Emil took a queen catcher out of his pocket. Over the course of several minutes about 75 bees landed on the catcher and his hand. For a second there we thought the swarm was coming back in to light on Emil's hand! I took some footage but for some reason it didn't come out. :'(
I was running around like a mad man today so I just took footage with my iphone.

Three Swarms Caught Today 3-21-11 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJo-0O8KM0Q#ws)
OH my, that was so wonderful. I enjoyed you running yourself ragged from swarm call to swarm call. I really like the still photos at the end with the music.
I am still mesmerized by the way you put your hand into the swarm and actually find the queens. You always make it look so, so easy JP.
Thanks
Annette
Annette, we'll have to see how I do when I catch a really nice sized swarm, these were on the small side. Hard to find the queen in a really big swarm, just ask Schawee! :-D

JP.. those Iphones sure have a weird video resolution on them. Enjoyed the "intermission" stills with music. What are you using for your video editing?

maybe it was that moon. if they are sensitive to pressure changes around thunderstorms.....
Once that swarm scent gets out in the air all over the place, all the hives get itchy. Great video.
jp how long has it been since you first started seeing drones. no drones here yet 3-4 weeks out would guess
Doug, I'm using imovie.
