Just curious....My hive is looking fairly weak after the winter. I removed the candy board last weekend, but couldn't get a feeder on because I'm airing out my extra deep boxes from the winter moth crystals.
Given our sudden dip back into the 30/20s late this week/weekend, should I think about putting the candy board back on, or am I better off keeping them sealed up as tight as they can get it?
Thanks in advance for your input.
I have a very light hive that has a candy board on since December. This hive was light on stores since fall. Last week I added three frames of pollen and thre frames of honey from a dead out. They are raising brood. The candy board is still on. They are still feeding heavily on the candy board.
I am leaving mine on until the temperatures allow me to add syrup. That won't happen until mid-late April.
I would put it back on then the weather allows.
