Title: Looking for a few good queens....
Post by: lenape13 on March 25, 2011, 01:22:04 PM
I'm trying to find 3 or four queens to do some early splits.  Every place I called is either booked up until June or are not taking orders until late May, neither of which help me out.  Anyone out there know of anyplace that might have queens ready to ship?  I would like to place the order next Friday.

Why not give each split a frame of eggs and let them make there own queen? I did 15 recently and now each nuc has capped queen cells. It is certainly less expensive.

Along with increasing my hive count, I'm also trying to introduce new genetics into my apiary system.  I do allow my girls to raise their own queens for summer splits.  I want to put each of these new queens in each of my outyards to increase genetic diversity.

Check on bee source in the for sale, someone had a few extras for sale.  Russel Apiaries in Missisippi may have open dates coming up.
