Beside cross breeding anybody know of any alteration experiments with Bee DNA?
I wonder if you could remove the gene(s) associated with the stinger :)

Call me crazy, but I like a good sting every once in a while. Now I'm not talking about AHB covered up, running for the hills sting, but just a friendly reminder 'pop' every once in a while. Lets me know that Spring is in the air. I just hate the face stings.
My brother went into my bees the other day to transfer a couple of brood frames into his hive. He found out 2 things, 1. bees get nasty when being brushed off of brood frames, and 2. making sure your veil is tied right prevents the mad-man, raving lunitic, dash.
I gave him a lesson on proper tie down of his veil, then fixed his table saw (electrics) while he finished up my 4 section 12 frame queen castle. Now to paint it an put it into operation building nucs and breeding replacement queens.
