And I hived them around 7:30 pm (as soon as I could.) I hope they do fine through the night. I am in Corvallis Oregon and the weather has been in the low 50's and tonight is supposed to get to 32 *F. They were very fresh packages as there were only about 100-150 dead bees in the package all together, including the ones I may have killed. I only got stung once and that was while attempting to pick up the small clusters of bees that fell to the ground as I was tapping the packages to get out the bees. Its funny how unprepared you feel when you instal for the first time even after you have read and re-read several books. Wish me luck!
Wow that sounds real exciting. it's great to hear from someone who has just made the leap from digesting information to getting their hands dirty (stung ;)
Would love to hear updates on how you get on.
goodluck, i get mine next friday
Good luck to you--isn't it exciting?!?
Go Beav's! Go Dex!
Good luck with your bees down in Corn-valley
I have 3 brothers that are Beaver alums.
My first package swarmed because they didn't move into the top box. When it's time to add the 2nd box, make sure to move 2 frames of brood to the top box so the bees will start working up there!
The girls are out and about! this is so cool!
congratulations. :) I'm envious, my girls won't be here till the beginning of may. I'm still in the digesting info/ setting up my bee yard stage.
Good luck
Bees are fun and a little addicting
