Title: building a Hive Body
Post by: ApisM on April 10, 2011, 03:13:02 PM
Hello,

Does anyone know of a video in building a hive body.  What tools to buy and the process.  Most importantly how to do the frame rests.  Do I use a router?

Well just depends on how you want to put them together.  You can get by with just a table saw.  But if you want box joints and all that stuff you need a box joint jig for a table saw or a router.  You can build them as complicated or as simple as you like and you can find plans over on beesource.

ApisM,

Check out EdwardW's thread:  http://forum.beemaster.com/index.php/topic,32273.0.html (http://forum.beemaster.com/index.php/topic,32273.0.html)

He did that with a table saw and a router in 15 minutes.  I believe he used the router was used for the hand hold and the frame rests, everything else was done with a table saw.  It would probably take me a day, but still, looks pretty simple, but very effective for most of us.
