Title: finally got to check
Post by: Kathyp on April 22, 2011, 07:26:05 PM
it got up to 58 and i got to check my hives.  6 out of 8 came through the winter and look really good.  all are in the top boxes and i left the bottoms on because of the large amount of brood in each hive.  hubby helped with the check and got some pics.  hopefully some are good brood pictures because there were plenty of examples of drone, worker, larvae, etc.

i feel good  :-D

YAY!!  Happy for you and for your hives!  Go Chris! Mikel and I need to start taking pictures.

Not so happy with the weather!  Is it usually so cold this late?

love,

Glad to hear your spring is coming, swarm calls soon to follow. Not only is it getting warmer here the humidity is way up making it feel that much warmer than even a week ago.

I'll trade you some parmesan cheese and crushed red pepper to go on Schawee's picante for some of your nicer weather.  ;)

That is awesome. I am in the same boat. I was very surprised to see how hard my girls had been working. Lets just hope the weather finally stops acting like winter here in Oregon.

JP and Shawee...you have no idea how much i enjoyed the sun in MS.  in spite of the fact that i looked like a lobster and am still kind of flaky (don't say it) it totally recharged me.  if i could find a way to swap some of this weather for your good food, i'd do it.

ziffa, it might be our new normal.  last year the spring was horrible and summer lasted about 6 weeks.  nothing grew.  this year i am planting the shortest season stuff i can find an hoping for the best.

Dexterjc, lets hope that we are through the worst. i was very encouraged to see so much capped brood.  as cold and rainy as it's been, i expected the worst.  also plenty of stores.  berries will start blooming soon, so it's looking up  :-)
