Title: New from the North-East Kingdom in Vermont
Post by: frustratedfarmer on May 08, 2011, 12:29:18 PM
I hope that I'm doing this right for I've never taken an active part in any forum or group. Hope that I don't cause too much chaos and /or confusion.

Anyway, moving on. My partner/wife and I have a small certified organic diversified farm in the northeast part of Vermont. If that wasn't enough of a growing challenge, we live at an elevation of 2000 ft. If it rains anywhere in Vermont it is snowing here! LOL. We usually get our last frost the end of may or the first part of June.

We put in our first two hives last spring and other than keeping an eye on them and feeding at the beginning of the season, left them alone for the first year. They seemed to come through the winter in good shape and my friend/ mentor suggested splitting one of the hives.
Oops, more later cows are out.
