Title: Very strong smell of honey...
Post by: slacker361 on May 11, 2011, 10:12:23 PM
I was down at the hives tonight, and my established hive has a very strong smell of honey comming out of it. I didnt think that it had built up that quick.... is there anything that I should worry about... I am going to open it up tomorrow and see...

Good grief!! I'd get down there and open that baby up and make sure you don't have any of that honey thingy in your beehive.

It sounds like they may be fanning a lot. Be sure to check for empty space. If it's getting low, add a box. It is said that it takes four frames of nectar spread out to make one frame of capped honey. Be sure they have enough free space to work.
