Nicely written.  If I recall correctly you are part of a group promoting local survivor stock, yes?  If I'm not imagining this, do you have more information?

Thanks!

John

Well done Bjorn!!  I fell into the MITE trap my first year of beekeeping.  It cost a fortune for me to buy the nucs and all the chemicals to poison my family with.   I've got Michigan mutts now that I don't treat with anything.  I know, it's to early to tell but I'm hoping they're good hardy survival stock for my area.  If not,  I won't bee a beekeeper if I have to use chemicals in my hives.

I loved your ramblings about organics as well.   It tickles me, as I've been gardening here for about 27 years and never used chemicals on my fruits and veggies.  Could I say I'm an Organic gardener??  Absolutely not!  The overspray when the farmers come through and the overrun of chemicals in the ground and water,  there's no such thing as ORGANIC anymore.  Wonderful job on your rantings.  Keep up the good work, as some of us truly appreciate all your efforts.....may you help save the world one bee at a time!!

I attended a beginners class at our local bee association in Feb. one complete night was spent on treating with chemicals. The whys and wherefores and just in cases. And one of the guideline books that was used was from the state ag. dept. Use this in the fall and this other in the spring.
