Title: Bees in a box
Post by: daven8er on May 23, 2011, 08:55:07 PM
I have some traps set out to catch swarms and have mannaged to catch one. I am wondering what to do with them now. Do I cover the hole tonite and move them to the location I want them to stay? How long do I keep them in the box before i transfer them to the hive? Should i put the queen in a queen catcher? If so how long?

i would cage the queen ,then after dark you can move them to your new location and transfer them in your hive .i like to keep her caged up for two days before i release her.i would also feed them too.     ...schawee

What type of swarm trap do you use?   I like 5 frame nucs with frames already in there.   That way there is no real rush to house them.
