Title: a way around the mead selling problem
Post by: slacker361 on May 24, 2011, 11:42:29 AM
Ok so one is not aloud to sell mead right? at least not inn teh USA unless all kinds of regulations are followed... but what if you could give it away?

A Honey Mead club where you pay a membership to be in the club... and a couple times a year you get free bottle of mead?

how quick will the ATF be at my place? LOL

We have a legit local brewing club with payed dues and meet every 6 weeks. Everyone brings something.   Home brew (mostly), wine and mead.  They when we're done with the meeting our wives come and drive us home

When my mead is ripe you can buy a bottle (20oz) of honey from me for $27 and I'll throw in a bottle of mead for free! :-D

"I will sell you this rare wine bottle and throw the mead in for free." Old moonshiners trick, buy the mason jar and whiskey is free.

If you do it often enough.  Big Brother will come knocking.  And it is a loud knock!  He is very serious.  I tried to donate some to a silent auction once... when I inquired it was a definite no no.

I think that there might be even more issues with mailing the mead, whether or not only the bottle is purchased....

Uncle sam takes in a lot of money on alcohol sales...you start messing with the revenue stream and you gonna get stomped!

If it looks like a loophole and you stick your head through, you will likely find out it is actually a noose!!

Set up an honor table for mead and see how much money you'll actually get!
