I started a new hive yesterday (8 frame medium with all new foundation and one comb frame) and had too many leftover bees so....I dumped two 3# packages in the box. Now I am worried it is overkill. I think I will go over today and put another box on. Is this way too many bees to put in this box?
way way too many

BEE HAPPY Jim 134 :)
i agree ,way too many
if i picked up a 6 pound swarm at this time of the year, and in my area, i'd probably give them two deeps!
put another one on and watch the comb get drawn quick!
i am fighting overcrowding and it aint fun.

I put a #7 swarm in 2-8frame med. foundationless and they did well
.
8 pound swarm occupye 2 deeps.
Medium box is 30% smaller.
2 mediums should be enough for 6 pound colony.
3# would be perfect. 4# would be fine. 6# is a bit much. I'd add another box.
