We pulled them out between floor joists via the soffit to avoid going in from the interior floor. Seem to be doing quite a few like this lately.
The bees were very calm at first then grew a good bit testy as we accessed the void space. They later seemed to calm down a bit. I guess what I'm saying is they made you pay for your mistakes/intrusions, smart bees!
While we were removing these, Schawee was removing his hive from a soffit in Gretna, Louisiana. We kept tabs on each other the whole day. Schawee said his hive was super gentle.
Later on this same night Schawee met up with me at my house and went home with two hives!

JP, it seems you always find the queen during your cutouts. Including the cutouts you don't post, what is the actual percentage of times you find the queen before you take the hive home?
Well, I don't know about the actual percentage but I would guess we find the queen about 7-8 of ten removals. Really depends on the construction and how shy she is.

good job ,that hive swarmed on me yesterday evening.they landed in my orange tree then went back to the hive.i went in and caged her so they can stay put. schawee
