Does anyone have experience with this brand? We have bears around in the area as the bees are in a rural area, 40 minutes from home.
I am currently setting this up. It is the DC model that runs on a 12 volt deep cycle marine battery. We have alot of rock here, so my ground posts will only go down 18 inches. Any concerns or suggestions?
They are good chargers for sure and the battery should last for several months if you keep the weeds from shorting it out.
If you are concerned about the ground on the system then just alternate some extra wires on your post............hot wire, ground wire, hot wire, ground wire..... and/or you could drive extra ground rods around your perimeter (probably not a big fenced in area just for bees).
Get one of the cheap fence charger testers to check for how well it is grounded.

use multiple ground rods and try to keep the ground wet. when i run a portable fence for the horses, i just dump a bucket of water around the grounds when i think about it. for sure test it, but you can use a voltage tester if you have one kicking around. no need to buy a fence tester if you don't need it.
also, run 12 gauge wire and bait it well. electric fences will not stop an animal. the fence is designed to scare them. if the wire doesn't get them good and they go through it, you might as well take the fence down. they'll know forever after that the fence won't stop them.
