Swarm 2011.wmv (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4TrTQPuqfQ#)
Sounds like you have a little gas there Irwin!
Sorry about that I had chili and a beer for lunch.
Ya, that was so cool. And I bet you were surprised to find that swarm pulling into your lot.
Well I never heard that happening before. Do they ask permission before going in?? Is there fighting inside the hive or do the weak bees just accept this as a gift??
Truly unbelievable!!
Very happy for you Irwin, and so cool that you followed them back to your house.
Very magical
Yes I was Allen when it was getting close to the house I was going to run in and get the camera to shoot video. It was hanging over the neighbor's house I ran inside grabbed my camera to start shooting video by the time I got back out side they were moving in.
I guess the two queens will duke it out now?!?!
those gals must have been really happy to find your weak hive, they were running into it!
Thanks for the video!
European usurpation?
When's the last time you saw the queen in that colony Irwin?
Congratulations!

Irwin are you using that lemongrass oil aftershave again :-D
Annette the fighting was bad at first had a pile of dead bee's the next morning. Jp I saw the queen last week she was in the upper super had a nice pattern but kinda small I was getting ready to pull every thing apart and nuc them that is why the pitched top was off got started then the wife the you know the one wait till you get something started wife then ask you to go to the store wife. The queen was two year's old. They ain't bringing in any pollen yet. And K9 yes I did and for dinner the night before. I made the chili a little to hot for the wife so I had to eat it all it was made with Elk deer and bear meat.

You covered both the gas and the burp. :-D
Nice video.
When was the last time you inspected that hive? I'm guessing the last week or so, that any bees being seen, were probably scout and "swarm guards" that will protect and hold a swarm trap location until the swarm is issued.

It was a little over a week she had a nice pattern but was a bit small. I think they made a new queen and they were just getting started back up. I was getting ready to put them in a five frame deep nuc when the swarm took over. And yes now that I watched the video a second time yes I think I did have them both covered. And I say excuse me to all that watched the video.
