what is the general make-up of a nuc and I am referring to a nuc that would be sold? Is it 2,3 or 4 frames of brood and or honey stores? and what would be a fair price to pay for a nuc this time of year? :?
Just my expierence, but most 5 frames nucs rarely have 5 frames. The ones I have bought typically contain 3 frames of brood, 1 frame of pollen and honey and one frame of foundation. They can always vary, but the price around NC is typically 95 to 110 dollars.

Eggs? or pupa/larvae stage? (or does all three make up...."brood"...?)
Typically nucs are going to be splits from other hives. So there should be a variety of brood in all stages of development. Also, if you purchase your nuc from a good beekeeper they will make sure your queen is laying a good pattern before you take them. So basically, your two or three frames of brood should have bees of varying stages in the development cycle.
