I wonder what percentage of their diet is live bees vs. cleaning up around the hive.   And I don't think stinging bees wound stop jays.  Pellet rifle might.

had them sitting on my entrance and eating bees.  put up some whirly-gig things and that seems to have helped.  now if i could just get rid of the swallows!!

I have thousands of dragonflies at this time of the year. They usually eat the dearflies, which are out in force now. I am wondering if any one knows if the dragonflies also eat bees. which are about the same size as our dearflies.

(Not that I could do much about them)

bb guns at walmart are cheap enough. Your problem could be fixed in one afternoon sitting in a lawn chair in the shade with a cold brewski in hand :-D
