Post by: psbeekeeper on June 13, 2011, 09:07:10 AM
When you make a split, how long should it be until your have a laying queen?  Wheather if it were raining a couple of days or not?  4 weeks?  5 weeks?

If you let the splits raise their own queens you should have a mated queen sometime between two to three weeks. I usually go by the rule of thumb of roughly three weeks before you start seeing eggs. Some queens are faster, others take a little longer, but in about three weeks you should be able to either see her or see evidence of her laying.

From the time you make them queenless it will be between three and four weeks.
