Title: Check out this HUGE queen cell.

What does this mean?  Will it even hatch?  By my calculation it should have hatched on Friday, instead I find this?!

Anyone ever seen anything like it?  Do I win the World Record of Queen Cells?  :) :pinkelephant:

You can't tell from this picture, but it looks to be all of 3 inches from top to bottom.

I've seen them before.  It's like they just get carried away.  The queen will either be dead or normal sized, in my experience.

Happens sometimes when the queen cup was made on top of the combs instead of recessed into the combs.  It's like they built a cradle on top of the combs.

Great googly moogly... that's huge.  I've never seen anything like that but now I've been educated.  Thanks for posting!  If the queen was actually that size can you imagine how many drones would show up being able to see her from a clear mile away?  ;)

I agree seriously funny people here.  Thanks for the serious Mr. Bush.  Glad to know it actually might hatch.  They seriously need a new queen.

Yah,
This site is a twofer.  You not only get to learn stuff, you get to laugh in the process.  Hardly ever get on here that I don't get a laugh or two out of it.  The education is pretty good, too.
