Being 1st year with crop of honey, can you take it now or should it be taken in the fall?

depends on how many times you want to get sticky, how many times you want to clean stuff, how many times you want to.........  Also do you want to try the different honeys you get from different season?

And where you are located, how strong your hive is and if you have SHB.    Here in north Georgia, the honey flow is over.   If you leave a super on, they will eat some of the honey as we have no more flow until fall.  If the hive is not really strong, beetles will move in and slime the supers.  I will have all supers off real soon.   You can always freeze the super if you do not want to extract it now and work it up later.
