Title: how do you store you honey extractor
Post by: slacker361 on July 12, 2011, 11:48:12 AM
I was going to put it back in the box, but you have to take the legs back off, as it will not fit int eh box with the legs on.... I know it isnt a big deal to remove the legs... Just seeing how everyone else does it...

I get mine all clean and dry, then cover and wrap with a plastic garbage bag so it doesn't get dusty and store it up in the loft of my shop.

Ditto the very large garbage bag.  Mine isn't fixed to a stand yet so I can double wrap from both ends.  If it was on a stand, I'd just put it in a corner somewhere and cover from the top.

I take it back apart to wash it up then it goes back into the box it came in.   That keeps the dust out.

I put a cover over it to keep dust and dirt out then store in the detached garage. My cover is an old bed sheet because I do not want to trap moisture in it by using a plastic bag. I would use a plastic bag if I could get some packaged desiccant (sp?).

Those who do use a plastic bag, have you ever had problems with trapped moisture attacking the motor? -Mike

I store my motor separately from the extractor, but still in a bag.  I have not had problems with moisture, but now that you bring it up I'll be making double-sure that everything's dry before storing.

Sort of like, now that moisture's been mentioned my best friend Murphy might stop by?  :-\
