After hiving a couple of cut-out colonies, I fed them for a while to get them established. Well, it worked too well. Now they are honey-bound or close to it. I know some is syrup but quite a bit is honey, too. On one hive, both deeps are pretty much loaded, and a medium super is also full. I know the super will be honey but how do I tell which frames are honey and which are syrup in the deeps? I need to get the deep frames cleaned out to use for brood, but I don't want to throw away honey. I don't care about the syrup though. If I feed it all back to the bees, I will just end up with the same problem again. I need advise!! :-\
you don't know. take the frames and freeze them. feed them back when they need it. if you feed when they need it only, you will not have problems. no reason to prefer honey over stored syrup when they are in need of feeding.
