Title: Beemaster anual get together ?
Post by: bee-nuts on July 22, 2011, 10:29:52 PM
I think I remember seeing a thread a while back.  Is there one?  IF so when?

It would be nice if there were one say every three months in different parts of the county like west coast, east coast, gulf, midwest, ect.  If it were posted that beemaster was looking for a host in a certain region im sure a member with a farm would offer to host for that region.  It would be a great way for members to get to really get to know each other.  I dont think a ten or $20 donation would be to much to ask for to pay for food and help with the website funding and such.  It would be nice to have a little funding for some political pressure to be placed in the political world or even some tv adds or whatever.

If you look at the lower 48 i think over a two year period (8) beemaster get together's,  there would be a convention close enough to most (90%) to make the trip.  So every other year each member would have the chance to attend a convention with within 500 (or less) to meet member within there area.  If the event was published in local newspapers honey could be sold, food cooked and sold, money raised, people educated, ect.  A great way to raise money for awareness, for beekeepers to get there name out there, ect.  Or you could make it a three year rotation and have three meetings, spring, summer and fall and have nine different locations.

Just came to me little bee brain so I thought I would mention it.

Other smaller get togethers have happened. Usually it starts as one or two planning to meet or someone offers to host something as they see several members in a general locality.
BrianDBray hosted a gathering a couple years ago.
I know Cindi, understudy and his wife and a few others dropped in and made a weekend of it. Maybe Brian will chime in on who attended.I am thinking polka bee may have been theer too,but don't quote me on that one.

Check this old thread of how it sometimes comes together,I know I enjoyed looking through it again.
