Title: Down size to a nuc ??
Post by: twintrades on July 27, 2011, 04:45:50 PM
OK i have this cut out hive as most of you know. Looked today and they had only 3 frames of brood. The rest is there old comb filled with sugersyrup/ nector.

The brood box was like this. Left to right as if standing in front of the hive.
1 empty frame, Brood, Brood, Brood, Comb with pollen/honey (CWP/H), CWP/H, CWP/H, CWP/H , Drone comb had pollen, Drone comb had pollen.

The drone comb had some Mold on the pollen ?!? Why would that be ? I never saw bees use it so i left it out and replaced it with new frames that had foundation.

Now
Frame W foundation( FWF) , Brood, Brood, Brood, FWF,FWF, The rest are CWP/H

Hope i did something right..... If not tell me what i can expect to happen.

Feed the cut out 1 to 1 syrup to build up the numbers before fall.   See how fast you can get it to grow before the end of the season.

Ive been feeding steady. Will continue to do so till winter. Durring the end of our first flow the bees didnt pay the syrup any mind. Now there allover it.
