Title: Extracting honey question
Post by: gardeningfireman on August 23, 2011, 07:56:28 PM
I have a partial super of capped honey I pulled off the hive about 5 weeks ago, and haven't had time to extract it yet. Plan on doing it this weekend. The bees kept going into the shed to try to rob it, so I put it in my freezer. When it thaws, will it be liquid and extractable again, or will it have crystalized? Thanks.

It will be just fine.   Give it a day for the frames to dry.   They get wet from the condensate as they warm up, but they are all good out of the freezer.

It won't crystallize, but make sure it's up to room temperature.  Cold honey will not run.
