Question:
How long have you been keeping bees?
Option 1: My bees are coming in the spring!
Option 2: I am in my first year of keeping bees.
Option 3: I am in my second year of keeping bees.
Option 4: I have had bees for 3 years or more.
Option 5: I have had bees so long I have lost count.
Option 6: I have dreams, but no firm plans to get bees.
How long?
I got interested in 1970. Researched a lot in 1972 and 1973. Got bees in 1974. Been addicted every since...
I started last year with one package. I added another package this year but it did not do well. Went threw four queens in one summer. I currently have it in a double deep six frame nuc and will try to winter it that way!!!. It's been doing fairly well lately My hive from last year swarmed and I was lucky enough to catch them so that makes 2 1/2 hives heading for winter.
Been fun so far. I find keeping bees both challenging and rewarding.
Good luck to everone going into fall and winter.
John

What can I say about my bees. They give me the peace and tranquility that I have long searched for. They help keep me sane in an otherwise insane world. I wish I would have taken plunge oh so many years ago.
My next goal is to make the time to meet some of the friends I have made on this forum. I am going to make an effort to do so this year. Hopefully we hit the lottery and I'll throw a private beekeeping gathering the forum will remember. (If we hit big enough, air fare will be provided...LOL)

We have a gathering at Bud's house every April. This will be the fourth annual gathering coming this April. Everyone is invited. We work hives, do cut outs, catch swarms, go fishing and have a BBQ. Its a whole lot of fun! Come on down this April!

JP - Thanks for the info and the invite. It's a bit far for me but...thanks to the link from Jim 134 I was able to see Scott collect a couple of swarms and you and Ziffa do a cutout. Great videos! :)
