We were hoping for a nice text book removal, which I'm not saying we didn't achieve, but the bees were down right not willing to give it up without a fight!

The Bickering Beekeepers Remove An External Colony From A Tree Branch (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBTeTll2pFE#ws)
Very nice hive..my external cutout I got two weeks ago was probably about 1/3 of yours. That one probably filled at least 2 deeps huh?
You guys have all the fun!!! Great video, thanks.
Schawee looks like he's put on a little weight, don't let him have seconds when you break for lunch JP!!

He either set them up in two deeps or a deep and two mediums, I can't remember what he told me this morning. In can tell you this though, we vacuumed a good thirty thousand bees on this one. Every bit of it.
Sorry I don't have any footage of the deep we transferred the comb into, you'll just have to trust me on that one.

Great video as always! I do enjoy them! Larry
Great job JP & schawee. It's no wonder those bees were a little mean being exposed like that, they had to get tough or die.
Bring on the gator hunting! :)
Awesome video! Almost angelic there for a bit with the sunlight and smoke creating halo.
On a side note. Being in the law and garden industry for almost 20 years now I've seen and heard enough lawsuits and stories about chainsaw injuries. To push the point futher I was the recipient of a chainsaw cut to my face years ago that left me with 42 stitches and reconstructive surgery. One inch lower and it would have missed my jaw and killed me when it hit my neck and throat. Please use two hands when operating a chainsaw. The kickback guard does not employ when you operate a chainsaw with one hand. All chainsaws made since the 80's (including your Red Max, now owned by Husqvarna) have this system because of the frequency of the occurrence and the very serious injuries it inflicts. When a kickback occurs it happens so fast you'll not even know what happened.
You may never have this occur but I enjoy your and Shawee's posts and videos and selfishly wouldn't want anything to happen to either one of you or anyone standing around you. ;)
I hope you have a queen for that hive if they don't calm down Schawee. Cool looking hive there. Stalactite like. Great video guys.
Love the video. If you only took 4 hits from this hive, I'd keep that queen.
Jim

That was a beautiful video JP and that fast forward function is fun to watch. (say that 3 times fast "Fast, Forward, Function :-D :-D)
Thanks for getting back into the videos as I am always on the look out for them.
I think you both looked healthy and happy in this video.
Annette
This one is about 30-35 feet up. Anybody want to try it? The home owners would like to have it removed.

Could bee fun!
I would do it but not without a lift! I could be wrong but that tree looks to be dead. It seems to me that that one could have comb inside the tree as well, like the one we did.
Might even be bigger than the one we did, perhaps much bigger.
You going to give it a go?

Nah, I am way too new to the hobby to attemp this. I have cut-out from a water meter (lost to SHB) and from under a mobile home (thriving in my TBH), but I am in no way going to attempt anything like this. I didn't get to be this old by being foolish.
Having fun!
call hardwood; scott and peggy will get her done
The main question is: Is the homeowner willing to pay something to have them removed?
Scotts's truck uses a lot of fuel!
wow! that was a huge hive. how many frames of comb did you get from that ? i'm jealous, you guys make it seem like you've got bees in every tree down in LA. what kind of tree is that ( it doesn't look familiar, i'm guessing they don't grow this far north )? keep up the good work fellas.
The thing is, these external colonies usually have some really disfigured and unusable comb. We had one piece that looked like a dang corkscrew! I believe we wound up with eight frames of brood on this one.
The next day Schawee set them up in either two or three boxes. He told me he was going to go through them today and that they appeared to be booming.
Oh, this tree is a Magnolia tree.

Good one again JP and Schawee. Apart from the job on the bees any two blokes who get me laughing at 6.30 AM makes my day, never get enough of the Bickering Bee Keepers. Is this the first time Schawee missed the queen??

Made me feel good, don't need any more. :-D

Schawee,
I was just foolin' about but I have notice a "slight increase" starting from the older extraction video's up the most recent. :)
Despite that, (it happens to us all), the bee club here in SF love watching your video's!!!
Ok, folks just to set the record straight, my buddy Schawee has been steadily losing weight ever since Burger Delight closed its doors. :-D I'm the one whose weight fluctuates on a regular basis.
His wife even told me how worried they were when for one solid week they would find him asleep outside Burger Delight's doors mumbling something like "Can't you make the shake bigger!" "Got to have more shake....Got to have more shake.... Got to have more shake... :-D "
...JP
I wondered where he was in the latest camp extraction video :?
