Title: JP & Emil Remove Bees In Kenner, Louisiana
Post by: JP on October 17, 2011, 11:45:48 AM
We had a really late start on this one but it all worked out. The combs were very rigid so you could rock them back and forth and 99% of the comb was easily detached from the roof sheathing. This made the job a lot easier than normal. Hope you enjoy the video!

Man! That was a beautiful looking hive that they made. Every bit of space was used. When you took out the comb, it was already shaped for the frames.

This is the first time I met Emil. Why is he called "Monkey Man" ? He came through on catching the queen. Good job Emil!!!

I really enjoyed this video!

Emil's first or second appearance had him climbing up a tree.  They kept calling him the monkey man.

I call Emil Monkey Man because he climbs trees and other things like a monkey can. He's very agile!

Nice easy one. We need one like that every now and then. Makes the others more bearable.

Good Show!

That was sweet, sweet, sweet and I am so proud of Emil getting that queen. Of course, you found her. Just loved that triangle shaped hive and the comb was so easy to place into the frames

Thanks once again for sharing

Nice one, JP and Emil!!  I esepcially like those medium size combs...perfect for me!!!!  I'll definitely pay attention to soffit hives! (I'm going all medium hive bodies). ;)

I feel sure ya'll used some smoke...but I sure missed it if it was there!!!  It still amazes me to see ya'll working in that close proximity to the bees and they're barely acknowledging ya'll!!

First thing I do Ed is give them some smoke. The smoker stays lit and ready when needed. It may not appear in the video but it was used when needed.

Don, its amazing how the human body can bounce back from things like a car accident. My back is not the same as it was before the accident but obviously I am getting around pretty well all things considered.

I did a removal last night that took quite a while in a floor (lots of sitting and leaning in and down at wee hrs of the morning). That job pushed me to the limit!  ;)

Thanks for asking.

Good removal guys. I hate it when I can see the queen but she's just out of reach. Usually in situations like your's where the bees can run in. Sometimes I just vacuum her up. :)

I've been away for a little bit and am just now enjoying some JP bee-removal videos with my morning coffee. I loved this one...especially when you said (with confidence) to Emil, "You'll see her"...and we all knew he would. :) I think I'll repeat that to myself whenever I look for the queen.

-Liz

P.S. I like schawee's idea, JP. I love the beard, but I'm sure I'd also love seeing you unveil your clean-shaven face. That would be fun.
