Title: new spring hives
Post by: hvac professor on December 27, 2011, 05:26:16 PM
i have very much enjoyed my first bee keeping spring and summer and looking for advice heading into winter and preparing for spring.
I would like to start 2 new hives this spring at various locations but not sure where to purchase new bees and equipment. Should i stay away from used equipment, and is there a popular place bees are purchased in northeast/vermont area?

As long as the price is right and you know where it came from, used is just fine.    I have never had a problem before.

Should i stay away from used equipment,

We don't buy used equipment.  It's not worth getting AFB.  If you do buy used, it should only be from a bee operation that you know personally does not have AFB.
