I am new to bees. I have been going to the local beekeepers meetings and reading books for the last year. I am planning on starting three hives in the spring. So am building the boxes now and will do frames next. Still need to get the apparel, hive tool, and smoker. I will try to get Nukes from the local beekeepers rather then purchase bees mail-order.
Looking forward to learning new things here and getting answers to any questions that come up.
Thanks
Gordon
Howdy Gordon. Welcome to the forum...there's a great group of folks here, nice community with tons of excellent bee knowledge. The moderators are excellent and even-handed and they keep things running smoothly. It's a great place!
I've got a small nuc in an 8-frame medium that I'm overwintering to, as my mentor says, "get my hands wet". I'll be moving two colonies to my house in February. If you can acquire your bees locally I think you will be much better off...you'll have local bees and you will create a relationship with the seller. It's good to have someone close by to call on when you have a problem.
Definitely keep working on your woodenware....spring will be here before you know it!
Best wishes!!!
Ed
