Title: Rotating brood boxes
Post by: rober on February 02, 2012, 12:30:42 PM
i've heard & read that some beekeepers. pull the bottom brood boxes this time of year since the bottom box is usually empty & the bees are all in the top box. does anyone here go that route?

the short answer is no, most of us don't do that.  there was just a post asking about it  http://forum.beemaster.com/index.php/topic,35995.0.html (http://forum.beemaster.com/index.php/topic,35995.0.html)
and it might answer your questions.  if not, post away  :-)

thanks for input. i'm glad i asked! this was suggested to me by a local beekeeper. my concern was that it wouls be easy to lose or kill the queen.

Doubtful.  Splitting the brood nest would be my concern.
