Title: repairing foundation
Post by: rober on February 03, 2012, 01:36:30 PM
i've read several posts where patching damaged foundation is mentioned but i did not find anything about how to do it. i have several frames with deformed comb that i'd like to fix without losing the rest of the comb. if i cut out areas to replace, say with a hot knife how do you get the new foundation attached. i'm guessing it is melted together somehow but any pointers as far as technique would be appreciated.

Ditto

The duragilt foundations came with 'communication" holes in the lower sections that the bees always close up.

.
Bees repair holes but they like to do drone cells in open sites.

When you have a hole in a comb or ruined patch, cut same size of piece from foundation and glue it with melted wax into comb.  Look the position of cell bottom figure before you glue it.

It works fine.
