Title: Swarm Lure and Trap location
Post by: kenglert on February 28, 2012, 06:10:25 PM
Hey guys, someone in a previous post mentioned the use of swarm lures and traps.  I live in an urban area (kansas city) but I keep my 2 hives on a 7 acre urban farm in the city.  The traps are near the gardens and out buildings but there is a lot of wooded areas around.  If I would put out lure and traps, how far away should I be from my hives?  Can I safely put them in the wooded areas near the house or would that attract the bees I have in my hives?
Thanks
Kurt

not going to affect your hives even if you set them on top

A swarm lure doesn't lure them into swarming.  It lures them into liking the home you are offering WHEN they are swarming.
