Title: still three inches of snow
Post by: hiramabuf on February 29, 2012, 12:22:46 AM
Keep hoping for that first sign of spring, here it's usually that first robin. Calling for freezing rain tomorrow. Have two hives ready for bees, can't wait.

I don't know where Havelock is but here , just on the West side of Ottawa, ON, I too was hoping for Spring...until a few days ago when we got more snow. Now we have over 2 feet of snow, more coming by tonight, then tomorrow and again after that. Potentially another foot by the weekend with high winds and probably whiteout conditions.
I am getting anxious to feed the girls but the temps haven't been high enough yet, not even close!
This is pretty typical for this time of the year....
...and by the end of March things will be looking very different! ....maybe!

Don't trust those Robins! They will lie to you.
Here in West Michigan; I saw two Sand Hill Cranes (yesterday) and I think they are worse than the Robins (about foretelling spring)
I hope this is March,'Coming in like a lion'.

In tropical Massachusetts the bees have been bringing in pollen for over a week now.  Getting 10" of that heavy wet crap today and tomorrow.  Been a cake walk this winter.  A disaster of a snow storm in October but since then....pretty easy.

My first sights and sounds of spring are the red wing blackbirds that nest in the pampas bog across the steet.  They came back a few days ago.  Late February is right on schedule for them.

The village of Havelock is right on no.7 highway, about 24miles east of Peterborough ON. I am obout 4 miles north east of the village.
