I am hoping someone can tell me what is required before you can sell honey from your beehives.

State and local laws are what you need to research.  It varies from state to state.

Michael is correct that you need to research your state laws. You also need to decide whether you are going to sell commercially or local at the farmers markets, because the laws, in some states anyway, differ. If you are going to sell at the farmers markets the laws are not as strict.
