Whats my liability if someone gets stung or kids get into them on private property ??? Chris facts please not opinions thanks
You better talk to a lawyer on that one. Just how can they prove it was your bee? I think if it is on your property, that would fall on your homeowners insurance. I have signs in front of my hives to warn people that bees sting.
I have no clue, but I have done it.
I'd be more apt to ask my insurance agent. The proper coverage may be far cheaper than any consequences.
Odds are if the neighbor gets stung it wasn't even a bee at all, but a yellow jacket, a paper wasp or a hornet, let alone one of your bees. The odds of someone dying of an insect sting in their lifetime are 1 in 6 million (some estimates are much lower than that like 1 in 30 million. And the estimates are based on statistics where no one knows if it was a bee or a wasp etc.).
The odds seem remote unless you happen to be the victim! I believe Deknow reported once on this forum that his childhood friend died from a bee sting. It can happen.
A couple of years ago they had on the news a highway patrol trooper died from being stung of course he was highly allergic. I believe he was hit with two epi pens and still didn't survive. On top of that he was inside I believe when he got stung
Odds are you know a few people personally who died in car wrecks. Odds are you don't know anyone who died of a beesting...
Here is a good thread on this topic worth reading:

If your going to rate/count the odds of dieing from a bee sting the most likely person to die from a bee sting is a bee keeper.

Would kids getting into bees on private property be any different, from a liability standpoint, than kids getting bit by a dog on private property?
I carry insurance for that sort of thing. It's the same insurance that covers any injury or death caused by my livestock from my 1600lb herd bull down to the tiny little bee. I don't know if you can get that insurance in town. I'd check with a Farm Bureau, Germania or RVOS agent. They specialize in that sort of thing. I know they insure houses in town but I don't know if you can get livestock insurance in town.
